Malene Bach’s site-specific and architectural commissions represent a synthesis of art and physical context. The spatiality on site is processed and transformed by artistic interventions dissolving the boundaries between architecture, sculpture and painting through additions and subtractions based on creating space for dialogue, communication and movement. Aesthetics and pragmatism form a dual focus. The artistic approach addresses the site and architecture, as well as any technical and functional demands, but also adds new dimensions and configurations that give people using the space the possibility to experience it in constantly new ways.

In developing and realising her on-site commissions for state institutions and private developers, Malene Bach works in close collaboration with architects and other professionals.

Examples of architectural interventions:
Colour schemes
Spatial disposition
Material palette development
Signage and wayfinding
Curation
Acoustics
Glass walls and partitions
