The ICONS series consists of small and large ikon-like wooden planks, mostly oak, where the sides are still covered in bark, whereas the surfaces are smooth and have coloured areas with painted geometric compositions, sometimes patterns.

The title refers to the Greek eikonas, as well as the Egyptian and Byzantine ikons, wood panel paintings, which from the 6th to the late 13th century represented the world view of the time with what we today could call flat surface painting. These painted wood panels were among the earliest examples of mobile paintings, pieces which could be moved around independently of the architecture.
